DOCX produces blank page or incorrect formatting

Blank window when reviewing document that was uploaded as DOCX and converted by USPTO to PDF. Also, conversion from DOCX to PDF creates issues with formatting of document (headers, footers, title, error messages shown in converted document)

User logged out early without notice

One of our listserv members reports that the "signed-in" status in Patentcenter disappears abruptly and without notice, long before the end of the usual 30-minute forced logout.

PAIR has two modes — "Public PAIR" and "Private PAIR". EFS-Web has two modes as well, a signed-in mode and a not-signed-in mode. So it is more or less to be expected that the USPTO developers of Patentcenter set it up so that there is a signed-in... more »

View Receipt History is broken

The addition of the "View Receipt History" feature to the Workbench recently was a nice addition, but it is broken. It seems to only show receipts for *new* application filings (the inaptly named "new submissions") and does not list receipts for submissions in existing applications (the inaptly named "existing submissions"). While having receipt information for new application filings is certainly useful, that information... more »

Split Document - Document Type Not Assigning Correctly

There is a bug in the Split Documents interface. When you split a document and assign document types, if you don't click "Done" at the bottom of the Split Documents interface but instead click the button to advance to the next screen, it acts like all of the pending document type selections for the sub-parts of that document have been assigned (at the least, it doesn't give you and warning that they have not), but does... more »

Abridged File Wrapper Option

In the Documents listing for an application, there are checkboxes to allow selection of individual documents for download. There is the option to select or deselect ALL checkboxes at once.

It would be a great feature to add to have additional buttons that would allow the user to select checkboxes for all documents except NPL, or perhaps all documents except NPL, search listings, and other generally non-interesting documents.... more »

Getting back to correspondence list from an application record

When reviewing an application record reached from a filtered Outgoing Correspondence list, there does not appear to be any way to go back to the filtered correspondence list. The browser "Back" function will take you back to the default list, but then you have to apply the filter again (and wait). Private PAIR has a tab/button for returning to the correspondence list. Please add such a button to Patent Center.

Link to Apn in PC after submitting a filing / file history

It would be very helpful if once you are done submitting something in Patent Center that instead of going back to the Home screen and searching for the same case, you can click the application number (or whatever) and it will take you to that specific case in Patent Center. It is our procedures that once a filing is submitted we download an "as filed" version for our official internal file wrapper and make sure there... more »

Tracking Examiner Action

The transaction history is a great place to get an idea of what is going on with an application, however, it would be awesome to have a real-time status option for where an Amendment or Response is on the Examiner's docket. Similar to the ability to download documents from the IFW in various formats, include an option to view the status of the Amendment or Response. Status could be as simple as:

1) Docketed - Action... more »

Set default sort order of applications

One of our listserv members requests: PatentCenter should have a way to set a default sort order of applications in the workbench home list (e.g., most recent changes first vs. numerical order). Although the user can sort the application list as they want, there's no way to preserve that preferred sort order, so it has to be set every time.

PatentCenter character set differs from EFS

In the web-based issue fee payment form (85B), EFS-Web permits use of an umlaut in the city name for the assignee. But Patentcenter pukes on an umlaut in the city name. Patentcenter needs to be corrected so that it permits use of the same character set that EFS-Web permits.

PatentCenter should say "fewer", not "less", for inventor count

There's a bit of bad grammar in Patentcenter. If you are using Patentcenter to look at a patent application, the number of inventors might exceed four. In that case you might click "show all inventors" to see all of the inventors. Then you would see a Patentcenter screen listing all of the inventors, an example of which is attached.

You might then want to return to the normal screen that does not show all of the inventors.... more »
